Humankind Acceptable Use Policy

1. Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") describes what you can and cannot do when using the Humankind website, platform, and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Humankind Bio, Inc., a Delaware Public Benefit Corporation ("Humankind," "we," "us," or "our").
This Policy is part of our Terms of Use. By using the Service, you agree to comply with this Policy.
We built Humankind to advance human understanding. That mission depends on trust—trust that your data is protected, and trust that the community operates with integrity. This Policy exists to protect that trust.
The Service is currently available only to residents of the United States. The conduct standards in this Policy apply to all users of the Service.
2. Your Genetic Data
2.1 Upload Only Your Own Data
You may only upload genetic data that belongs to you or for which you have explicit, documented authorization from the data owner.
You must not:
- Upload genetic data belonging to another person without their written consent
- Upload genetic data from a deceased person unless you are their legal representative or have authorization from their estate
- Upload genetic data obtained through deception, theft, or unauthorized access
- Upload genetic data from minors (anyone under 18)
2.2 Authorized Uploads on Behalf of Others
If you upload genetic data on behalf of another adult (such as a family member who has difficulty using technology), you must:
- Have their explicit written consent
- Ensure they understand how Humankind uses genetic data
- Provide them with access to their account
- Honor any request they make to delete their data
You are responsible for ensuring the data owner's rights are respected.
2.3 No Commercial Use of Others' Data
You must not use the Service to:
- Collect genetic data from others for commercial purposes
- Build databases of genetic information
- Conduct unauthorized research on others' genetic data
- Resell or redistribute genetic insights
3. Geographic Use
The Service is currently available only to residents of the United States. You must not:
- Misrepresent your country of residence
- Use technical means to circumvent geographic restrictions
- Use mail forwarding services or another person's US address to access the Service
- Purchase the Service for someone who is not a US resident
If you are outside the United States, you may join our waitlist to be notified when the Service becomes available in your region.
4. No Medical Use
The Service is intended solely for personal education, self-understanding, and personalisation purposes. The Service is not intended to diagnose, treat, prevent, monitor, or assess any disease, condition, or medical issue.
You must not:
- Use the Service to diagnose, treat, monitor, prevent, or manage any disease or medical condition
- Use the Service to make medication, treatment, or healthcare decisions
- Rely on the Service for medical decisions, treatment decisions, medication decisions, or emergency situations
- Use Humankind outputs as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
If you have any health concerns, you should consult a qualified medical professional.
5. Prohibited Conduct
5.1 Illegal Activity
You must not use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law, including:
- Fraud or identity theft
- Harassment, stalking, or threats
- Discrimination based on genetic information
- Violating genetic privacy laws (such as GINA in the United States)
5.2 Genetic Discrimination
You must not use insights from the Service to make decisions regarding employment, insurance, housing, education, credit, or access to opportunities for another person.
5.3 Harmful Use of Genetic Information
You must not use information obtained through the Service to:
- Discriminate against any person in any context
- Harass, threaten, or harm any person
- Make decisions about another person's medical care without their consent
- Identify or attempt to identify individuals from anonymized or aggregated data
- Conduct paternity, ancestry, or relationship testing on others without their knowledge and consent
5.4 System Abuse
You must not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems
- Circumvent security measures or access controls
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
- Introduce malware, viruses, or other harmful code
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service without our written permission
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without authorization
- Overload or attempt to overload our infrastructure
5.5 Misrepresentation
You must not:
- Provide false or misleading information when creating an account
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Misrepresent your affiliation with any person or organization
- Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or abuse the Service
- Falsely claim to be affiliated with Humankind
- Misrepresent your country of residence
5.6 Intellectual Property
You must not:
- Copy, reproduce, or redistribute content from the Service without permission
- Remove or alter proprietary notices or labels
- Use Humankind's trademarks, logos, or branding without written permission
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
6. Community Standards
6.1 Respect Others
If you participate in any community features (such as cluster discussions or shared insights), you must:
- Treat others with respect
- Not harass, bully, or demean other users
- Not share others' personal information without consent
- Not post content that is hateful, discriminatory, or threatening
6.2 Accurate Contributions
If you contribute phenotypic data or share outcomes with the community:
- Provide accurate information to the best of your knowledge
- Do not fabricate or falsify data
- Update or correct information if you discover errors
- Do not attempt to manipulate aggregate insights through false contributions
6.3 No Medical Claims
You must not:
- Present yourself as a medical professional unless you are one
- Provide medical advice to others through the Service
- Claim that insights from Humankind constitute medical diagnosis or treatment
- Discourage others from seeking professional medical care
7. Researcher and Commercial Use
7.1 Academic and Scientific Research
If you use the Service for academic or scientific research, you remain responsible for complying with all applicable research ethics, privacy, and legal obligations. You must not attempt to re-identify individuals from aggregated data.
7.2 Commercial Use
Commercial use of the Service requires prior written agreement with Humankind. Contact us at legal@humans.inc to discuss commercial licensing or our API offerings.
Without our prior written agreement, you must not use the Service for:
- Employee screening or hiring decisions
- Insurance evaluation or underwriting
- Risk assessment
- Credit decisions
- Any decision affecting another person's rights or opportunities
- Any other commercial purpose
8. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this Policy, please report it to us at:

- Any relevant evidence or documentation
- Your contact information (optional, but helpful for follow-up)
We take reports seriously and will investigate promptly. We will not retaliate against anyone who reports a violation in good faith.
9. Enforcement
9.1 Our Rights
We reserve the right to investigate suspected violations of this Policy and take any action we reasonably determine is necessary, including suspension or termination of accounts, removal of content, deletion of data, reporting to law enforcement, or legal action.
9.2 Appeals
If you believe your account was suspended or terminated in error, you may appeal by contacting us at appeals@humans.inc within 30 days. Include:
- Your account information
- An explanation of why you believe the decision was incorrect
- Any relevant evidence
We will review appeals and respond within 14 days.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
